Fun Things Because We Have a Daughter

1. I thought Hailey was teething before. I know she is teething now. Who could have guessed the amount of snot that can come out of a poor baby's nose? Add into that crabbiness, pain, constantly wanting to be held...I just have to keep reminding myself that my sole purpose of being a mother is to be there for Hailey. So if I do nothing but hold her all day because she is in pain and not get any cleaning done, I know I would be fulfilling my duty as a mother and comforter for Hailey.

2. You're right. I didn't get any cleaning done (yet). But something else I have to keep reminding myself is I didn't go to part-time at work so I could get more cleaning done - I went part-time so I could be there to take care of Hailey.

3. Hailey fell off the couch today. And hit her cheek on something. She has a pretty nice little shiner on her cheekbone. Tough little girl!

4. I know I should save this for her 6 month post, but I did want to say - after finally trying and trying and trying for almost 2 months now, Hailey has finally recognized the spoon! She has finally realized that if there is a spoon in front of her, she opens her mouth and leans forward. She knows it brings food! And the food doesn't taste so bad! I am SO happy, I can't even begin to tell you. On Saturday and Sunday each, she ate a whole ounce of cereal. Ladies and gentlemen, this is huge.

5. I, uh, finally got around to ordering Hailey's birth certificate from the Utah Cty Health Dept. And apparently I can't get anything right, because I put my maiden name as "Benson" instead of "Septon." I now have to send an amendment back to them with both mine and Scott's signatures that have to be signed in front of a notary (who is the "notary" anyway??) and wait 4-6 weeks for the new one to come back. Oh joy!

6. I think I'm running out of things to say. I'll leave it at this for now. But I guess I could say one last thing...

I got a new calling!
I am now the Young Women's 2nd Counselor.
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for this!

Hyper or What!

I had the hyperest little girl tonight! Don't know what she ate today, but she sure was happy! At least we don't have to deal with an angry screaming child - just a happy screaming child. I think she screamed herself hoarse here.

Baby Clothes

Today I finished up my storage room project! I needed to sort through Hailey's clothes and decide what needed to stay out and what needed to go away. I was finally able to pack up her newborn and most of her 0-3m size clothes. We kept out the 3 month onesies, as well as 3-6 and some 6 month. Then I sorted through the rest of the clothes that we had from some friends into their right sizes. Most of the 6-9m/9m clothes were either pajamas or Christmas. The pajamas I'm not too worried about, since winter lasts past December. The Christmas clothes, on the other hand...she'll be 10 months, but let's just say I'm a little worried she may not make it to the 9m-size clothing in time for the holidays!!

That's ok though. I found this GREAT pink turtle neck and a pink/purple tutu, and I think I know what I'm going to dress Hailey as for Halloween. Any guess for what it will be and you are the WINNER!!

Pushing Through

Sometimes, it's really hard to see through to the end. Sometimes, when you're right in the thick of things, all you see is what's around you and not appreciate the good things and just want to give up and give in. That's how I feel right now and I hate it.

I feel like I've lost my drive that I used to have. I have so many things I could be working on. I have a half-sorted storage room that needs finishing. You know what that means? There is junk EVERYwhere. I have bills to pay. Do you want to help pay those for me? And I have goals to eat better and exercise better. Things to organize. Carpets to vacuum except we still have to work on getting that rock out of the vacuum first. And all on top of that, it is the HOTTEST summer on record and every day I think I am going to die of heat and that there is no reprieve in my tiny little house and that there seemed to have never been a day when it wasn't hot.

Except we don't have any money to take a drive up the canyon and cool off a little bit. We don't have any days off together to go camping for just one night. I've lost one babysitter and I may be losing my other one. I wish there were things we could get rid of so we didn't have to pay every month, like cars or internet or gas or groceries. Why does this all have to happen at once? I know the Lord is refining us, but sometimes I feel like all I can see is a brick wall. And I don't know how to get out.

On a happier note...we had a dessert party. It was very successful, in the sense that we showed up with our desserts. Eating it, on the other hand, was a different story. I think we all finally realized that night that we were no longer the teenage girls with an endless appetite for anything anymore. Needless to say, much of the desserts were barely even touched. I did, however, contribute to drinking most of the punch. It was cold and I was thirsty.

I love getting together with my girlfriends from high school. I am very grateful we still keep in touch. And I was so happy to have finally seen Whitney's beautiful house! I didn't get a picture of my delicious S'more's pie, but I did get one of the group of us girls.

Excuse the tired baby.

I really do love my husband and my beautiful daughter and I would not change either for anything in the world. I know this is just another trial we all have to deal with and when we come out, we will come out on top. It's just the getting through part that's hard.

Fun Things Lately! (sorry - it's long!)

We went flying on Monday! We went flying! It was SO great, and SO beautiful, and SO exhilirating, and I SO want to do it again sometime soon! Oh, did I also mention it was NOT as expensive as we thought it was going to be?? That in itself is FANTASTIC news! And yes, the excessive caps means I am REALLY excited about this. My husband is such a good pilot. I love him so much! What a wonderful family night that was. Only person we were missing was Hailey. Soon she'll get to fly with us, but not yet. I had SO MUCH FUN!!!

West Spanish Fork/Payson...I think

Look at us go!!

I can't believe I'm flying in a little plane!!

Right below the mountains in the center...the Payson Temple construction site!

Also, we went camping a couple weeks ago. This is what you get when everyone is sitting around and they discover that your daughter is still small enough to fit inside a baseball glove.

Hailey is a 5 months now (I missed her 5-month post, sorry!) and she is a ROLLER. She cannot stay on her back anymore! She loves to flip and flop and slide and scootch and do all sorts of things now! Soon she will be sitting up all on her own!!

She started at the blanket...who knows where I'll find here these days!

Hailey's friend Bronx and my friend McKell came to visit us on Pioneer Day! I had to snap a picture of the two. Sorry Hailey doesn't look the happiest. They are 3 months apart. See more cute pictures of Bronx and read McKell's blog here!

Hailey left, Bronx right.

Also, we are borrowing a bumbo for Hailey. She likes it well enough. She ESPECIALLY likes watching the TV while Daddy plays XBox. We might have to watch out for that....

We also had a fun Squires family reunion at the end of July. What a great month July was! Can't wait for more of August!

New Blog

So I kind of went out and made a new blog, but this one is for crocheting! It's a crocheting blog! You can check it out here or go to...

...because I really think if I could crochet all day, I might be in heaven. Mix that in with my beautiful daughter cooing next to me on the floor and a piano in the corner that I can go to for breaks, I think that would be the perfect day for me. Oh, and a clean house. I really wouldn't mind a clean house!

Anyway, this is really exciting for me because I actually just finished my first REAL, legitimate project and I feel so proud of myself! And I want to share the accomplishment with you! So read away if you'd like. And if you don't like, that's ok, you can keep your comments to yourself. Just let me blog in my own way and we can all be happy!
