Sunday Dinner...Happy Family

So yesterday we had a big Sunday dinner for Memorial Day at my parents house because my little brother Marine Thomas was home for a couple days and my grandparents were in town. We also had Linda and Greg over with their niece Brittany (who could technically be my 2nd cousin...or something?) who is Tom's age. There was tons of food and loud laughter and squishing all the youngsters (namely me, Scott, Heather, Oy, Jenn, Brittany, Tom, and Greg) around the extra folding table. It was tunzz of fun!

I will have to say, the highlight of that whole night was when we were all chatting around the table during dinner. Scott was telling a story and I was asking Oy to pass me the butter. Suddenly, every one of us at the table burst out into loud, loud laughter at the exact same time. We were all laughing so hard, but no one knew why the other side of the table was laughing at the same time our side was. When Candice had passed me the butter, there was no knife. Instead, she had used the other end of a fork, and that is why her, me, and Heather all started laughing, but we didn't think it was THAT funny for everyone else around the table to laugh at that, too.

Apparently, Scott had told his story about Grandpa Benson's "rocket boosters" (aka farts) and had told the punch line right as I got a good look at Candice's impromptu "butter knife." It was so funny, especially since everyone was confused why everyone else was laughing, haha. But we found it out, and then we laughed some more.

Such a happy night. I don't think I had laughed so hard with my fam in such a long time. Sigh. =)

I Don't Know What to Call This Post

I have so many pictures and stories to share because I haven't posted any pictures for the last little while and you guys need to be caught up on every detail of mine and my husband's life. Woot.

Where do I begin...?

Do I start with my story about how Scotty and I have been fishing a lot lately and spur of the moment bought ourselves two poles and two licenses?

[I know...cheap-o pole]

Or do I share my story about how I caught my first fish on Saturday? (!!!)

And how I cooked it up?

And ate it and it was so yummy??

Or do I share our dryer story that has been long awaited about how one day our dryer stopped working and we found out that it had kept tripping the breaker so we tore apart the house (sort of) trying to find the breaker and then ended up just thinking it was the dryer all together?

So we moved out the old dryer and said good-bye...

...went out and bought a whole new dryer from RC Willey (it was actually pretty cheap and the exact same one, just newer)...

...and moved in the new dryer and hooked it up and started it and....

...tripped the breaker again. What!

Come to find out, the old dryer was in perfect working condition, and so was the breaker. That made me really mad finding that out because we had already bought the new one. I hate spending money when we don't have to, especially when we had gotten our first dryer for free.

Or, I could possibly share my story with you about how I finally got the nerve and bleached it. I bleached it all! The house smelled like a stuffed-up swimming pool, but I don't think I could have done a better bleaching job.

That's right. I bleached my...

...bathroom! Good-bye mold on the walls,

the ceilings,

and the baseboards. Everything looks so beautiful!

In case you guys were wondering, the breaker did stop tripping. We don't know what caused it to start in the first place, maybe we never will. All we know is that things happen for a reason and maybe we were supposed to buy this new dryer from RC Willey anyway. You never know. Funny how life does that to you.

Well, I hope you all had a fantastic time reading this post. I certainly had fun, because it beats sitting around the house on Memorial Day while my husband is at work. Make the sun come out!

I hope you all have a Happy Memorial Day. It's nice to have days to remember those who have gone on before us.

I love America!

Replenishing

My little bit of wisdom for you today:

Every once in a while, you need to buy something new. New doesn't have to mean expensive. Even buying at DI brings home a purchase new to you. Having that new thing in your life stirs things up. It's different, and it gives you something exciting to look forward to.

I just bought a purse at DI for 2 dollars. It's not fashionable, but it's new to me and just what I wanted, and it's given me an excuse to dress up a little more and go out in public. I get excited when I have to leave the house because I get to grab up that new purse for the road. It's just fun, and just what I needed to rejuvinate myself.

Happy Almost Memorial Day! I get to see my brother AND my grandparents this weekend, so I'm really looking forwad to it. I also get Monday off and we're crossing our fingers it's sunny enough to have a very nice, enjoyable and relaxing Memorial Day celebration.

Remember how we used to go up Big (or was it little?) Cottonwood Canyon every Memorial Day and we would play horse shoe and go hiking and eat deviled eggs? And then Tom fell down the cliff. Good memories, good memories.

Happy Thursday!

Pictures :(

You know, I really wanted to update my blog today and post some fun pictures of my rather smelly weekend. We have church at 9:00am so getting home at noon should give me plenty of time to get on the computer and do my blog-stuff but what do I do? I eat and then take a nap. Until 5:00pm when it's time to get up and go to Orem.

Snap.

So here I am, instead, at my parents' house, with no pictures. I should probably just carry my laptop with me everywhere I go if I ever want to get this done because I seem to always get on the internet everywhere BUT on my laptop.

I will now share with you some thoughts:
No, my husband and I did not get raptured yesterday. And neither did anyone else we know, as far as we are concerned. :(
I have forgotten how fun Mario Party is and have been lucky enough to be able to play it a few times lately with my bro- and sis-in law. Thanks Brad and Liz!
The Green Hornet is a badly made film. Don't see it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the small window of warmth and sunshine that we had yesterday.
A trip to the mall food court does count as a date when you are too tired to cook dinner.
My husband's side of the mattress is a lot softer than my side - why is that??
The Church is true.
Oh, and as far as end-of-the-world-doomsday-destruction is concerned, a volcano erupted under an glacier somewhere in Iceland.

Have a Great Sabbath!

The End of the World: May 21, 2011

[I've decided to copy my aunt and share with you the funny things we say in our daily lives.]

The following is a conversation that happened over text today:

Scotty: So I decided since it's the end of the world tomorrow, I'm going to moon everyone at work before I go home.
Me: Gross, I don't think anyone wants to see your hairy butt.
Scotty: I don't care if they do or don't, it's the end of the world and I can do what I want.
Me: And this is why YOU won't be taken up in the Rapture tomorrow.

See y'all in heaven tomorrow, everybody!!

Happy Summer...

So, once upon a time, it used to be nice outside. Scott and I had a grand old time! We played with our neice and nephew, drew pictures on the sidewalk, poured bubbles on the sidewalk, popped bubbles on the sidewalk...

We also have done some MEGA mooching so far this "summer." Although it is still May, I have thoroughly enjoyed our time mooching. A big thanks to Scott's fam for use of their bbq grill (til we have yet to buy our own...someday soon!) and to my parents for letting us use their firepit. Oh, and to Oy and Greg for taking time out of their busy, busy schedules to hang out with Scott and I around the firepit.

I love burnt hot dogs, scorched marshmallows, and caramelized Starbursts. I also love the fact that Nabisco has finally gotten some sense knocked into them and made SQUARE graham crackers!

Now, I will patiently sit back and wait for the rain to go away. In the meantime, I may clean. Also, pictures will be forth coming, as well as the long-awaited adventure of our dryer.

Happy Wednesday!

A Royal Flush

Why, you may ask, do I have an image of a toilet plunger on our blog. Well, there is a story behind this, and I figured it was so monumental that I had to post it, as gross or "potty-mouth" (hehe) as it may be.

Actually, there isn't really much of a story to it. It's embarrassing, really. The toilet plugged and our plunger was not getting the job done. My best idea was to get another plunger and wouldn't it be that we just happened to have another plunger sitting in our car in the trunk.

Thank you to those insightful friends who thought to give us a plunger at a White Elephant Christmas Party those many months ago.

:D :D :D
